Community Health
Information Partnerships
The purpose of these partnerships is to facilitate the
creation of alliances-teams of local hospitals, as well as other health
organizations, and public libraries. Ten Nebraska community teams have been formed and
participated in a symposium held in North Platte on November 10, 2005. The
symposium focused on shared resources, collection development, Internet
resources, and training of staff and volunteers. Joint programming and
development of local community events, such as health fairs and educational
activities targeted to specific community groups, are intended outcomes of this
initiative. Support for these partnerships is provided by Nebraska Library
Commission, National Network Libraries of Medicine, University of Nebraska
Medical Center McGoogan Library, and Nebraska Health & Human Services.
