Children's Services Grants Awarded for FY 2001The Library Commission awarded $21,210 in grants for Excellence in Children's Library Services in Spring 2001. These grants for innovative projects for children in public libraries help achieve the goals of the Libraries of Promise Campaign. Outreach Handbook AvailableA Talking Book and Braille Service Outreach Handbook was circulated to librarians and other advocates for Nebraskans with visual or physical impairment. The Outreach Handbook presents a basic overview of the Talking Book and Braille Service, as well as an explanation of eligibility and application process. It serves as a guide for presentations in classes or meetings and as a reference to use when a person in the community experiences sight loss, stroke, or some other impairment that limits their ability to use regular print materials. Commission Team HonoredThe Library Commission's Data Trek Replacement Team was among nine work teams nominated for the Nebraska State Government Chapter of the National Management Association's annual Team of the Year award. The team received a certificate of recognition during the EXPO Awards Ceremony at the State Capitol.
