• Dave Eckmann, Talking Book & Braille Service Book Circulation/Studio Support, was selected Employee of the Year and Shannon Behrhorst, Library Commission Network Services Director was named Manager of the Year. Congratulations Dave and Shannon!

Elmer Baker, former York College Administrator and faculty member, died in June. A long time library leader, Elmer was instrumental in the development of the Nebraska Trustee Handbook. He was active in the Nebraska Library Association and served on the Board of Trustees for the Kilgore Memorial Library in York, the Southeast Library System board, and the State Advisory Council on Libraries. On June 6, his family, friends, and library colleagues gathered to honor his lifetime achievements. Elmer will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues. | |||||||||||

• Beth McNeil, Associate Professor and Assistant Dean of the University Libraries at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UN–L), received the 2004 Runza Spirit of Service Award for her work as a volunteer narrator for the Library Commission’s Talking Book and Braille Services. She was recognized at the Chancellor’s Leadership Recognition Reception for her volunteer contributions. |
