Main agenda items for the October 17, 2011 meeting include the following but may be modified at such meeting:

  • Welcome and introductions.
  • Minutes of the last meeting.
  • Outreach strategies for health fairs and other community events. What information and materials would be helpful to talking book supporters who are willing to staff a display in their community?
  • Are we overlooking any Nebraska-based magazines and newsletters that might publish an article about Talking Book and Braille Service?
  • Related to the above, are there any Nebraska-based professional associations of service providers that we are overlooking in our outreach efforts?
  • The digital books and players have been in borrowers’ hands for approximately two years. What have you heard or experienced in regard to digital talking books and players that might help us in our interactions with talking book borrowers? Did anything about the new format surprise you in any way?
  • Also, our collection is still divided between books that are online (through BARD) and on cartridge, and those on cassette. What have you experienced so far in obtaining books that are in different formats?
  • Saying thank-you to committee members completing their terms of service.
  • Other
  • Date for spring meeting; Adjournment.
