Main agenda items for the June 3, 2011 meeting include the following but may be modified at such meeting:

  • Welcome; Introductions—committee members, please take a few minutes to comment on what brings you to the Advisory Committee.
  • Minutes of the last meeting.
  • Election of Secretary.
  • A demonstration of BARD, an online service from Library of Congress for downloading audio and books and magazines. We are now able to offer BARD to schools and care facilities. What approaches would be helpful in encouraging resource teachers, activity directors, and other service providers to sign up?
  • We recently conducted a survey of our readership. We will present the findings and discuss together the results.
  • The Western Conference of Librarians Serving Blind and Physically Handicapped Individuals recently met in Colorado. Attendees included representatives from 13 western states, along with staff from Library of Congress. I would like to discuss major topics from that conference, such as eBooks, trends in state budgets, outreach and marketing efforts.
