Blackwell's
Blackwell's has agreed to offer to Nebraska libraries a discount on their core services. Below is a description of these services, and the terms under which they will provide them.
Although Blackwell's extends this offer to all Nebraska libraries, it should be noted Blackwell's is primarily a book vendor to academic libraries. The requirements of academic libraries differ from public, school and special libraries in a number of ways, most notably quantity and publishers covered. Blackwell's does not seek to persuade public libraries already dealing with the major mass market and popular trade vendors to re-direct their orders to them; public libraries will very likely be better served in that capacity by their current sources. However, Blackwell's does supply books from a broader range of publishers than most vendors, and, for academic libraries (for whom virtually all orders are for single copies) Blackwell's is well positioned to handle the full spectrum of academic library requirements.
Firm orders
Blackwell's firm order service provides fast, accurate delivery of monographs. They handle all university presses, trade publishers, scientific / technical / medical titles, museum publications, small press titles, and books issued by associations and societies. Coverage is not restricted to only publishers who extend discounts or accept returns; the only limitations to Blackwell's coverage are imposed by a few publishers who will not sell through wholesalers.
Blackwell's supports electronic ordering and invoicing, web access to bibliographic and selection information, including Tables of contents, book processing, and delivery of corresponding MARC records with optional enrichment. They bill and ship to customer specifications, and provide management and status reports (either hardcopy or electronic) on a regular basis.
Certain categories of orders are not considered firm orders. These are:
- Special promotions - Blackwell's regularly negotiate special promotions with their publishing partners. These are generally pre-publication, and are advertised at a special price until a specified date. These offers are as is - no additional discounts apply.
- Government documents - government documents (both state and federal, as well as Canadian federal and provincial), are supplied at list price. Please contact the Nebraska Customer Service Representative below for more information about Blackwell's government documents service.
- Out-of-print books - out-of-print books are priced by Blackwell's sources and are not subject to discounts. Please contact the Nebraska Customer Service Representative below for more information about Blackwell's OP service.
- Foreign titles not available in North America - books not available in the U.S. and Canada are supplied from Blackwell 's distribution center in Oxford, England. Coverage includes Great Britain, western and central Europe, Scandinavia, Africa, Asia and Australia.
Standing orders
Blackwell's standing order service includes both numbered and unnumbered, regular and irregular series, as well as subsequent editions, symposium proceedings and other continuation titles. Coverage includes all standard sources, as well as several reference publishers other book dealers elect not to supply (e.g., Bowker, Gale).
Libraries can elect to receive series on an alternative frequency (e.g., every other edition; every third year). Blackwell's can also provide notification of subsequent volumes rather than automatic delivery.
Pricing depends on volume and mix. Individual library title lists can be reviewed and quotes provided on the terms of supply.

List Price Publishers:
Blackwell's practice is to discount the majority of materials we provide. However, there are publishers that offer us very small or no discount on their titles. These are the publishers whose materials are not
eligible for discounts from Blackwell. You will receive list price with no handling fees for the large majority of publishers on this list. In those cases where we receive no discount at all or are assessed with special handling fees, titles from these presses will be priced at list price with an $8 charge. Presses designated as core are those covered on Blackwell approval plans. These publishers will continue to be included in plan coverage, unless you elect otherwise for your library. See

Low/No Pricing:
Low/No Pricing is driven by publisher discounts at the title or item level,
rather than at the supplier level. Blackwell receives low/no discounts on some
titles from major publishers whose normal discounts are good. Since Low/No
Pricing is determined by the pricing for an individual title, rather than all
titles from a specific supplier, we cannot produce a list of low/no suppliers.
We show list price plus $8.00 handling for low/no titles.
Proformas:
Blackwell will continue to pay proforma invoices to publishers requiring payment
in advance. A $10 charge to cover our internal costs will be assessed to the
library when a proforma check is issued. In most organizations, the cost of
writing an individual check is between $30 and $50. As has always been true, we
will actively work with any press requiring proformas to negotiate open
accounts, so we can eliminate the charge.
Every year we write off tens of thousands of dollars for proformas which were
paid, but for which we never received books. Blackwell assumes that risk when we
obtain proforma-press titles on your behalf.

Ingram will continue to pay the first 2.5% of the total invoice cost towards freight charges. The Library will be responsible for any freight charges exceeding that percentage. Ingram will be happy to assist the Library in consolidating accounts and adjusting order processes so that you continue receiving timely shipments, while keeping freight costs under or near the 2.5% freight credit.
Freight Terms - K-12 School Libraries: Orders will ship FOB Destination with Ingram-paid freight from your Ingram-designated primary and secondary distribution centers. Should you choose to place an order from any of our other distribution centers, shipping charges averaging 3-7% of the total invoice price will be paid by Library. Orders for schools will ship with two shipments per purchase order. Any in stock, non-processed book will ship within 24 hours of order entry. Any remaining titles will then be placed on backorder for a period of time specified by the school. At the end of the backorder period, all books that have come into stock will ship, and any remaining titles will automatically cancel.
Ingram does not currently assess any additional fees for shipping.
However, given the unpredictable impact of rising oil prices, Ingram
reserves the right to assess a fuel surcharge with notice.
Agreement Period: Start Date: February 1, 2013
End Date: January 31, 2014
Payment Terms: Payment terms under this offer shall be 1% 10 Days/Net 30 Days. Payment is required for invoices within these terms even when a purchase order has not been completed. Ingram does not invoice for items until they have been shipped. Ingram offers a 1% cash discount on payments made within 10 days of statement date. Credit card payments are not eligible for this discount. Payments must be postmarked by the 10th of the month to qualify for the 1% discount. This discount is shown on your invoice and must be taken at the time the invoice is paid and cannot be taken retroactively. These additional savings can be substantial when you take advantage of the prompt payment discount.
While other vendors demand payment from invoice date, Ingram's terms are calculated on statement date at the end of each month. With payment due 30 days from statement date, the customer's payment is due an average of 45 days from invoice (30-59 days). Ingram reserves the right to assess a late charge on all past due invoices.
