Library Innovation Studio Online Training available on Niche Academy

After the pandemic hit in 2020, the Library Innovation Studios’ project team wanted a socially-distanced way for local trainers and local makers to train on the studios’ makerspace equipment. Videos and lessons were produced on the majority of the Studio’s machines featuring the project’s statewide trainers. Trainers and makers can continue to take advantage of the classes that are accessible on the Nebraska Library Commission’s Niche Academy account.

These trainings are similar to the trainings that had been offered in person, but of course, you are not able to have the hands-on opportunity through these lessons. On the other hand, whenever you are ready to undertake the trainings, the courses are available to you.

Anyone may access these courses. To do so, go to:

Those who want to access the Library Innovation Studio lessons, must first create a free personal account with a login. To create an account you enter a first name, last name, and email address. We recommend that when people create an account they enter their last name as your last name and city, state such as “McManus, Lincoln, NE.”

As a reminder, our Library Innovation Studios’ equipment standard operating procedures (SOPs) written for the Studio’s machines are available at: Library Innovation Studios – Equipment Instructions. These SOPs, along with the Niche Academy trainings, will be useful when operating these same machines in other makerspaces.
