Nebraska Memories – The Easy Way

Basic Information

Please be sure to read the Introduction to Participating in Nebraska Memories for the specific steps in the process.

The following two forms must be completed by every institution that participates in Nebraska Memories.

Item Information(Metadata)

Participants are required to provide basic information about each item that will be added to the database.  This descriptive information is called Metadata.  To help participants gather the needed information we have created two template options for recording this information: 1) an EZ Metadata document form, 2) an EZ Metadata Excel spreadsheet.

The Commission uses information provided to make complete metadata records that will be added to Nebraska Memories. The following are two examples of completed EZ Metadata document forms.

  • EZ Metadata form for the item U.P. Depot and motor car, Valley, Nebr. as completed by the library.
    • See the record as it appears in Nebraska Memories.
  • EZ Metadata form for the item Valley High School as completed by the library.
    •  See the record as it appears in Nebraska Memories.

EZ Metadata Document Forms

If using document forms, participants are required to complete a a separate EZ Metadata form for each item. The forms are available as either Word documents or PDF documents. Choose the format that that best fits your needs. The forms may be typed or handwritten. (Note: You can type in the PDF form but they can NOT be saved. They can only be printed.)

EZMetadataNLCScan:  If the Nebraska Library Commission is scanning the items please complete one of the following forms for each item.
