Library Commission Awards Grants for Training and Education

The Nebraska Library Commission awarded Training and Continuing Education Grants totaling approximately $28,288* in 2002. The grants were awarded to eleven libraries and two library organizations to assist in providing continuing education and training for Nebraska library personnel. These awards represent an important part of the Library Commission's commitment to the goals established for Making a Difference your libraryTM: Nebraska Library Services and Technology Act Plan for Library and Information Services 2003-2007. Goal 1 specifies: Nebraska library personnel will have the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide quality library and information services for all Nebraskans.

The following libraries and library organizations received grants:
Atkinson Public Library ($2,097)
Battle Creek Public Library ($313)
David City, Hruska Memorial Library ($950)
Grand Island Public Library ($5,000)
Kearney Public Library and Information Center ($5,000)
Imperial Public Library ($1,213)
La Vista Public Library ($1,600)
NLA Paraprofessionals ($300)
Pierce Public Library ($1,686)
Rock County Public Library ($2,639)
Southeast Library System ($3,000)
Wayne State College ($4,220)
York, Kilgore Memorial Library ($270)
