Library Commission Invites Nebraskans to Open House
Nebraskans throughout the state enjoy talking books from the Nebraska Library Commission Talking Book and Braille Service. In Lincoln, Commission staff work to get talking books to the Nebraskans who need them. Unfortunately, talking book users and staff rarely know one another as more than voices on the phone.
This summer's Afternoon at the Library Open House is an opportunity for talking book users to meet staff. Afternoon at the Library will be held Wednesday, August 12, 3:00-6:00 P.M. at the Nebraska Library Commission Talking Book and Braille Service, 1200 N Street, Suite 120, downtown Lincoln. Family members, friends, and other interested persons are welcome. Afternoon at the Library will also include tours of the Talking Book and Braille Service, introduction of Advisory Committee members, and summertime refreshments. Anyone planning to attend is asked to call the Talking Book and Braille Service, 402-471-4038 or 800-742-7691.
The Nebraska Library Commission Talking Book and Braille Service provides recreational reading materials to Nebraskans who are blind, visually impaired, physically disabled or reading disabled. Nearly everyone knows someone who uses talking books.
