Thriving in a Digital World - Columbus

This is the afternoon session of the E-rate/Digital World Training Day at Central Community College - Columbus. To register for the morning session, go to E-rate What's New for 2020?. Check-in will start at 8:30am, with coffee and breakfast treats provided. There will be a 1 hour lunch break between the workshops – lunch is on your own.

How can libraries help communities thrive in a digital world? In 1991, there was one website in existence. There are now over 1.7 billion websites with over 4.3 billion internet users worldwide. The internet has changed the way we communicate, how we access information, learn new skills, buy and sell goods, and so much more. Digital skills have become a necessity in many ways.

This workshop will help you identify and meet your community’s growing need for digital and technology skills. Make your library a more valuable resource to the community. By the end of this workshop, you will be able to do the following:

  1. Identify who you are helping in your community, and how you can help
  2. Leverage existing tools and resources to meet growing digital needs
  3. Gain inspiration from what other libraries in-state and nationwide
  4. Experience more interactive, hands-on ways to meet library customer needs
  5. Begin building a feasible plan to meet the needs of the future
Together, we will build a happy, healthy and safe digital world for everyone. I look forward to seeing you there!
