Thriving in a Digital World - Grand Island

This is the afternoon session of the E-rate/Digital World Training Day at Grand Island Public Library. To register for the morning session, go to E-rate What's New for 2020?. Check-in will start at 9am, with coffee and breakfast treats provided. There will be a 1 hour lunch break between the workshops – lunch is on your own.

How can libraries help communities thrive in a digital world? The internet has changed the way we communicate, how we access information, learn new skills, buy and sell goods, and so much more. Digital skills are a necessity in the 21st Century. But what do we really need to know?

As technology expands faster, the digital divide is widening. Luckily, not everyone needs every piece of technology in existence. Find out what’s possible in the digital world. Then help your community discover what they actually need.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to do the following:

  1. Know which digital skills are important in the 21st Century
  2. Start prioritizing what is feasible for your library
  3. Discover why people should care
  4. Brainstorm more creative ways to meet library customer needs
  5. Learn about free tools and resources to provide to your patrons
Start planning now to make your library a more valuable resource for digital skills in the future. I hope to see you there!
