AGENDA
Main agenda items for the
June 11, 2009 meeting include the following but may be modified at such
meeting:
- Welcome; Introductions;
Minutes of the last meeting.
- Try out the Library of
Congress demonstration models of digital players.
- Distribution:
Our transition to digital books and players is scheduled to begin
late fall. The transition could take
up to six years. During this transition, we will need to balance the needs
of established borrowers with those of new borrowers.
When it comes to allocating limited numbers of digital books and
digital players, what considerations should we keep in mind?
- Marketing:
One of our ongoing challenges is to attract a steady influx of new
borrowers. The transition to digital
books and players represents an opportunity for us to draw attention to our
service. What marketing approaches
could we take to present our program in a good light without overextending
our resources of digital players and books?
- Service to schools:
Talking book service to schools has been a special challenge the last few
years, since we have been cassette-based while cassette use overall has
declined in the classroom. What steps
can we take now to reintroduce our service to Nebraska schools?
- Other items
- Date for fall meeting
- Adjournment
