AGENDA
Main agenda items for the
October 16, 2007 meeting include the following but may
be modified at such meeting:
- Welcome
and Introductions
- Minutes of the last meeting
- Outreach to support groups:
We 've been well
received by support group leaders for Parkinson 's, muscular sclerosis, stroke,
and VIPS. We have also provided information to United Cerebral Palsy of
Nebraska, the Arthritis Foundation, and AgriAbility. What groups are we
missing?
- Advertising: We 've had ads, both paid and free,
and some articles in Nebraska publications of special interest to senior
citizens or individuals with disabilities. Examples: Older Nebraskan 's Voice,
PrimeTime, New Horizons, and Prairie Wind (pending). We 've
also had an article in NEMA News, a publication for Nebraska media
specialists. What publications are we missing?
- Community events: What events
are taking place in your community for which you would be willing to staff or
help staff a display or make a presentation?
- Mailing to eye care
professionals: We are planning our next mailing to eye care professionals. What
would help to improve the receptivity of the mailing by the medical office
staff? What would make it more likely for the information to reach the
optometrist or ophthalmologist?
-
Digital transition: Briefing on the federal budget for the
digital transition. It looks like we should anticipate a longer transition to
digital books and players than we had planned. If the transition takes five or
six years instead of four, we need to continue marketing our program as
primarily on cassette. What are your thoughts on how to present our books and
magazines as valuable, even though they are in an obsolete format?
-
Marketing to schools: Related to the above question, how do
we take a different approach to marketing talking books to schools when they
have indicated a strong preference for online and electronic formats?
-
Other
items
- Date for Spring meeting
- Adjournment
