About the Nebraska State Government Home Page
The Nebraska State Government Home Page (http://www.state.ne.us)
is the official internet Home Page for Nebraska state government.
The page organizes and points to electronic sources of state government
information, including state agency web pages. It is hosted on
the Nebraska Library Commission server and maintained by a team
of Library Commission staff, with input, assistance and support
from staff of Nebraska Educational Telecommunications and a variety
of other state agencies. The Nebraska State Government Interagency
Internet Group, staff from a variety of state agencies providing
government information through web page development, provides
ongoing input and maintenance assistance. The Nebraska Independent
State Agency Directors also provide formative evaluation and feedback
through their ongoing review of and input into the development
and reorganization of the Nebraska State Government Home Page.
The State Government Home Page points to web pages created by
state agencies. Staff of each agency are completely responsible
for the organization and content of their pages. Generally, the
State Government Home Page does not provide direct links to federal
and local government information or to privately-produced Nebraska
web pages. Some state agency web pages may link to such information.
As a convenience to our customers, the State Government Home Page
does point to two general directories for Nebraska-related information,
the Nebraska WWW Registry and NebraskaLink.
For many years, the Library Commission has provided access to
state government information through the Nebraska Publications
Clearinghouse services. Bringing together people and information,
the Clearinghouse services help realize the Library Commission
mission of statewide promotion, development and coordination of
library and information services. Each year, the Clearinghouse
collects and distributes hundreds of publications from Nebraska
state agencies, boards, commissions, state-level elected officials
and state-funded colleges and universities. Publications produced
with state funds and intended for public distribution are included
in the Clearinghouse collection. As state government information
becomes available electronically, this mission and philosophy
guides decision-making for inclusion on the State Government Home
Page.
Library Commission Reference and Information Services are also
instrumental in realizing the agency mission. Commission reference
staff help people find and use government information. Your questions
and comments are important to us. Please tell us how you use the
State Government Home Page. We need to know if electronic access
to government information makes a difference in your life. The
Guest Book and Webmaster are monitored daily by the Library Commission
State Government Home Page and Reference teams. We welcome your
comments and hope you find this page helpful.
The signature graphic on the State Government Home Page is the
Champville marble column cap from the main vestibule of the Nebraska
State Capitol. Carved by the Edward Ardolino Co., Lee Lawrie,
sculptor, it signifies the blending of Nebraska's proud agricultural
tradition with Nebraska's rich classic cultural heritage. Photo

"The Salvation of the State is Watchfulness in the Citizen" is taken from an inscription on the front of the Nebraska State Capitol. This statement by Hartley Burr Alexander articulates the mission of the State Government Home Page. Alexander (1873-1939), anthropologist, poet, philosopher, educator and authority on North American Indian mythology, is best known for his work as thematic consultant and author of inscriptions and symbolism for the Capitol.
