Magazine Program Update

Twenty-one of the magazines that you are able to receive from Nebraska Talking Book and Braille Service (TBBS) are recorded here in our studios in Lincoln, Nebraska. As many of you who receive magazines may be aware, the TBBS studios have been behind in the recording of our magazines. This is due to a combination of factors: staff turnover and the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to challenges in staffing numbers and in distancing requirements, we fell behind in recording and were not able to catch up.

As director, I made the decision to start the new year fresh and we will begin with the current issues of all of our magazines. What this means for you as magazine subscribers is that going forward you will receive the most recent issues of our magazines. This decision will also allow us to eventually start to work on books, which we have not recorded regularly since 2017. Providing you with new and up-to-date content is important to us, and this decision benefits both you, our listeners, and us at Talking Books.

In other news, the national magazine program has added Jack and Jill magazine to its collection. If you would like to start receiving this publication, please contact your Reader’s Advisor or download it from BARD.
