About Zumi 2.0

Zumi was designed to promote women in STEM so she's a girl and proud of it! But she doesn't mind if anyone uses her coding prowess to learn fun new skills. Zumi is a great tool to help beginners understand how artificial intelligence works in the context of self-driving cars. Try some of the pre-made activities to work your way up from beginner to expert in no time!

Get Started with Zumi 2.0

The Zumi robots that get mailed out to libraries are pre-built so you can focus on learning how to code! Start with these tutorials to get started with Zumi:

1. Start here: Watch the Intro to AI w/ Zumi, Maintenance, and Connecting & Updating videos.
2. Choose a programming language and click "Start Learning"
• Blockly: Drag & drop programming (beginner to intermediate)
• Python: Text-based programming (intermediate to advanced)
3. Follow the tutorials in order to build foundational skills.

Activities

Zumi has plenty of activity options build right into the system. Here are some recommendations to get started:

• Foundational Skills: Start with the Foundational Skills to make Zumi move, control LED lights, and all the fun features on the car.
• Blockly Foundational Tutorials:
• Python Foundational Tutorials
• Activity Cards: Each kit comes with a set of 20 Activity Cards to test your programming skills after learning the foundations.
• Zumi Dashboard: When the robot is connected to your computer, a collection of activities will become available directly on the website through the Zumi Dashboard.
