ArchiveGrid and CAMIO Databases Now Available From OCLC

Entry Categories: E-Resources

As a result of the July 2006 merger of RLG and OCLC, OCLC is now offering subscriptions to the following two databases via its CONTENTdm platform:

  • ArchiveGrid - ArchiveGridSM is an important destination for searching for historical documents, personal papers and family histories held in archives throughout the world. Developed by RLG, ArchiveGrid is an online service that provides access to detailed archival collection descriptions. It includes nearly a million descriptions of archival collections held by thousands of libraries, museums, historical societies and archives worldwide. For more information on ArchiveGrid see: http://www.oclc.org/archivegrid/

  • CAMIO (Catalog of Art Museum Images Online) - is a premiere resource of works of art from around the world contributed and described by leading museums. Showcasing a wide range of fine and decorative art, CAMIO provides high-quality art images for education, research and enjoyment. All content is rights-cleared for educational use. The scope of the CAMIO collection ranges from 3000 BC to the present. The content includes about 90,000 works of art—photographs, paintings, sculpture, decorative and utilitarian objects, prints, drawings and watercolors, jewelry and costumes, textiles and architecture—plus audio, video and mixed media. Difficult-to-find contemporary art is one of its strengths. For more information on CAMIO see: http://www.oclc.org/camio/

Note: CAMIO fills the void left by the end of operations of the Art Museum Image Consortium (AMICO), whose AMICO Library database could be subscribed to from 1998 to 2005. Individual arrangements have been negotiated with most of the AMICO museum members that allow us to continue to provide access to their works through CAMIO.

If either of these products is of interest to you, please let us know and we will be glad to request pricing on your behalf.
