NebraskAccess Passwords
NebraskAccess Passwords may be used from anywhere. To maintain security NebraskAccess Passwords will change once a year, on August 1st.
New passwords will be emailed out approximately one month in advance to give libraries time to distribute the new passwords. Libraries can start using the new passwords as soon as they are received.
The new NebraskAccess passwords are only sent to the person we have listed in
our records as the library director. However, any staff member can
contact us to get the current password.
Each participating Nebraska library is issued three unique NebraskAccess passwords annually. Each password will correspond to one of the three database access pages.
- NebraskAccess passwords starting with the letters
EM provide access to databases listed on the
Elementary/Middle School Databases page. These databases have been selected and customized to meet the typical research needs of elementary and middle school students.
- NebraskAccess passwords starting with the letters
HS provide access to databases listed on the
High School Databases page. These databases have been selected and customized to meet the typical research needs of high school students.
- NebraskAccess passwords that start with the letter
A provide access to all NebraskAccess databases, which are listed on the
All NebraskAccess Databases
page. This page hosts the most comprehensive list of databases including
those designed for adult and academic users and provides the broadest, most robust research experience.
Note: Library passwords are not case sensitive and do not contain any spaces.
NebraskAccess passwords can be handed out to patrons and students so they can use the resources from home or other locations. Licensing terms prohibit posting passwords to publicly accessible websites, or including them in documents/handouts/newsletters/videos that will be posted to publicly accessible websites. If a password is posted on a publicly accessible website, the library will be issued a replacement password and the publicly posted one will be disabled.
When distributing NebraskAccess passwords, librarians will need to take into account their patrons' information needs before determining which password(s) and database access page(s) to recommend. The All NebraskAccess Databases page and its corresponding password will best replicate the search experience patrons have been used to.
