(fill in). Nebraska Library Commission Director Rod Wagner recently announced the distribution of state aid to public libraries across Nebraska. This funding enables the Library Commission to continue to work in partnership with Nebraska libraries, using state aid funds appropriated by the Nebraska Legislature, to help public libraries grow and develop.
The Nebraska Library Commission annually provides direct state aid payments to eligible public libraries. This money augments local support for library services and has been used by local public libraries to boost their print and non-print materials, increase access to electronic information resources, and develop programming for young people, among other things.
The allocation amounts for state aid to public libraries is subject to change, and is dependent upon state budget appropriations. State Aid Award letters were mailed to all eligible libraries, indicating the amount of the state aid payment for this year. Award amounts are based on other public funding sources and population.
